This course will expand delegates’ knowledge of acoustic monitoring and provide insight to industry requirements for environmental mitigation. Our PAM training course provides the skills needed to use the latest PAM equipment currently in the marketplace. Aimed at delegates with a scientific background, preferably in biology and marine sciences.
A certificate for offshore work will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
5% student discount for one course on proof of full and valid student status.
10% student discount for two full courses (when booking in conjunction with JNCC MMO, PSO and PAM course) on proof of full and valid student status.
This excludes the PSO additional modules course we now offer delegates who are the same day completing JNCC MMO training or have previously completed the JNCC MMO training.
ABOUT THE COURSE
Our internationally respected PAM Level 1 course equips delegates with the all the skills required to become a professionally qualified Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Operator.
Run by Seiche Training’s highly experienced team, delegates on this three-day course will acquire a thorough grounding in acoustic monitoring, an insight into industry requirements for environmental mitigation and learn how to use Seiche’s PAM equipment, which they are likely to use whilst working offshore, including PAMGuard software.
The course is delivered both classroom based or remotely via Microsoft Teams, with a comprehensive look at the role of a PAM Operator and an in-depth introduction to PAM software, including an interactive PAMGuard workshop. You will learn how to set-up the PAM system whilst in the classroom, and for delegates attending the course remotely you will also receive step-by-step guidance. Detailed course support material provides continual reference.
A certificate for offshore work will be awarded upon successful completion of this professional qualification.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Delegates should have a scientific background, preferably in biology and marine sciences. Delegates will need to bring a Windows laptop and have the PAM Guard Software downloaded prior to the course. If you do not have a Windows laptop, please let us know when booking your course and we will loan you one for the duration of the course (first come, first serve basis).

EXPERTS
Lorenzo Scala delivers our PAM Level 1 and Level 2 courses. He is a senior marine scientist in the Bioscience group at Seiche with 15 years of expertise in marine mammal bioacoustics, monitoring and underwater noise measurements projects. Lorenzo provides technical support on Seiche monitoring systems to offshore consultants, and leads project operations in the field. Lorenzo completed his master’s in marine & Fisheries Science from the University of Aberdeen in 2008. He has specific expertise in the installation, maintenance and operation of acoustic monitoring systems deployed on offshore oil and gas, and offshore wind farm developments, including geophysical surveys, pile driving and UXO disposal projects.

After completing the Level 1 Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) course, delegates are often keen to extend their knowledge. Seiche now offers a PAM Level 2 course which will equip delegates with experience in data analysis, troubleshooting and will deliver more expertise in configuring PAMGuard.
